We're Roaming Kiwis too

Built by a frequent traveller who got tired of handing over their passport just to get online.

It started at an airport. Of course it did.

I'm lucky enough to travel reasonably often, and over the years I've tried just about every way to stay connected. Local SIM cards from airport kiosks, convenience stores, carrier shops. I've handed my passport over to more strangers than my mother is comfortable with, filled in account registration forms that asked for information I'm not sure I actually know about myself, and made a truly impressive amount of small talk while the terminal slowly ran out of chairs.

You know the drill. “How's the weather been?” Top up with credit. “Will you be needing a local number?” Wait for the SMS. “Welcome to our network!” Great. Now I'm online. Forty minutes after landing, twenty minutes after my bag came out, and about three seconds before the person I'm meeting texts to say they've left.

I tried other eSIM providers too, hoping that would be the answer. Sometimes it was fine. Often it wasn't. Confusing checkout flows, activations that didn't activate, and support that felt like it was written for someone else's problem. One provider emailed me a barcode (the kind you'd find on a cereal box). Another sent a QR code to my phone for me to scan. Using the phone I was reading it on. You can probably see the issue.

All I wanted was something seamless, easy, and reliable. A service that actually thought about the customer, so I could focus on the more important stuff. Like finding my hotel. (I hadn't booked one yet. That's a different story.)

Born from a real trip.
Built for real travellers.

So we built Roaming Kiwi

Buying a travel eSIM should feel like booking a seat on a flight: pick what you need, pay, done. No queues. No handing over your passport to strangers and filling in forms after a 14-hour flight. No surprises on your credit card statement. Your eSIM should be ready before you land, not something you scramble for once you're already there.

We're a small Kiwi operation (yes, actually from New Zealand, the land of pavlova, mountains that look suspiciously like Middle Earth, and a people who say “sweet as” without a trace of irony). We couldn't find a travel eSIM service that was genuinely simple, genuinely good value, and genuinely pleasant to use all at once.

So we built one.

What we care about

Simple

Pick your destination, pick your plan, pay, done. No jargon, no unnecessary steps.

Good value

Transparent pricing, no hidden fees. What you see is what you pay.

It just works

Your eSIM activates before you land. If something goes wrong, a real person will sort it out.

We're not trying to be the biggest. Just the one your mate actually recommends.

Kia ora, and happy travels.
